According to the sister of Celine Dion, the singer is still receiving therapy for stiff-person syndrome.

The singer of “My Heart Will Go On” revealed in December that she had been given the diagnosis of a rare neurological condition that can result in muscle rigidity and spasms.

In a July interview with the Canadian journal Le Journal de Montréal, Claudette Dion provided an update on the singer’s health and said that Linda, another sister, had relocated into the singer’s residence to help with her care.

“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and she tells me that she’s working hard,” she said.

“I honestly believe she just needs to rest.” “She always goes above and beyond, she always strives to be the best and to be at the top of her game,” she added.

“At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something,” Claudette said of Dion’s choice to retire from performing. It is critical to pay attention to it.”

“It’s in her DNA; she’s disciplined in every aspect of her life.” “We haven’t found a cure yet, but having hope is important,” remarked the singer’s sister.

According to Claudette Dion, the “Love Again” singer is “listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible.”

A spokesperson for Dion did not reply quickly to a request for comment.

As Insider’s Marianne Guenot previously documented, stiff-person syndrome has no cure, although it can be controlled with particular antibody injections, anti-anxiety medications, and muscular relaxants.

It is an illness that worsens over time and, if left untreated, can be crippling.

The Grammy-winning musician, 55, revealed her illness in December 2022. “I’ve always been an open book,” she stated in an emotional video posted on Instagram. “I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but now I am.”

“I’ve been struggling with health issues for a long time. “It’s been extremely difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about everything I’ve been through,” Celine Dion explained.

“I was recently diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a very rare neurological disorder that affects one in a million people.”

Because of the diagnosis, the singer rescheduled a few of her future tour dates in 2023 and 2024. She announced the end of her tour in May.
